The Arts Alive 2017 Student Competition is going to be held on FEBRUARY 18, 2017. The deadline to apply for the 2017 competition is February 6.
Arts Alive!, is a performance critique and competition event for our talented Chesapeake students in the arts, ages 12-19. Valuable in several ways, this popular annual audition event provides for professional appraisal and evaluation by local artists/judges matched to their field of expertise and to the students’ art disciplines: strings, dance, visual arts, and vocal; also brass, percussion, piano and winds (under instrumental) and, new this year, drama. Guidelines in each discipline and the application can be found on this website.
Participation in the competition gives the student a chance to become more comfortable with auditioning and affords them an opportunity to win a financial grant to support their studies in their talent area.
Arts Alive!, is an annual event presented by the all-volunteer Arts Alive! Chesapeake (formerly Friends of the Arts), a 501C3, and the Chesapeake Fine Arts Commission. Information about the annual Arts Alive! event, including application information, is generally available in December of the previous year.
Winners in attendance are traditionally acknowledged at a Chesapeake City Council meeting in late spring.
